Hemlock the Witch is a warlock patronized by a shadow on the moon by the name of Lore. He can cast shadows into weaponry, as well as light into beams. He can move from shadow to shadow instantly. He talks to his hat, which is made from the skin of his deceased wife, and is friends with Starsinger the werewolf and Scarlet the vampire.
Formerly part of the Solar Blade as a Wordsmith. Solar Blades were contingents of the king’s guard that worked in teams. Wordsmiths could cast magic based on forged spells and wordplay, taking concepts and transforming them into workable manifestations of intent.
Solar Blades were deployed from airships, often called the Corona.
He was part of a Prominence, or team, often structured as such:
- Wordsmith - spellcaster, outfitter, artificer, tools on the spot
- Aetherknight - agile fighter, able to pull weaponry out of pocket dimensions
- Vitalis - healer, potion mixer, poisoner, greaser
- Aegis - able to forge light into forcefields
