Born Alexander Geddan, Nimda is the energy source that powers the Diamond, the central Crown (Crowns, the Floating Cities). Capable of producing 1TW/h, he sits in a state of dormancy in the center of Novus Labs.
Maya, a custodian program, keeps him company in his dreams, which allows his mental activity to power the Crown without being conscious of his predicament.
It did, anyway.
In his dormant state, he learned of the Crown. He learned of the city he powered, of the Theory War, the ancient histories of I, the Machine God, and the mythical surface world below. The love story of his dreams had him captivated, giving him a world of peace, love, and care. It kept him placid and under the custodian program and he was madly obsessed with his companion.
And then he woke up.
In his rage and confusion, he wreaked havoc, killing everyone in sight. His explosive electric power burnt the tips of his fingers as he reached out in anger, casting his rage forward to destroy anyone who obstructed his path on his journey to find Maya.
The lab was destroyed and he ran away, seeking the edge of the world.
